Al's Ancestor Story |
Al's Jewish ancestors have travelled westward for many generations looking to escape persecution and for a better life - from Eastern Europe to England and Ireland, then to Quebec City and Montreal where he was born. Al left Montreal at 18 for Atlantic Canada knowing that he would eventually move West. He first visited Salt Spring Island in 1996 but wasn't ready to settle down. He went on to explore his heritage, work and travel in Israel, England, Ireland and Toronto before returning to Salt Spring in 2001 to lay down roots. Al is so grateful to live here and holds the deepest appreciation, love and respect for First Nations culture and history, diversity, and the unique history of the Island.
